The Sphinx
Disclaimer:
Before I start the first associations to 11:11 (eleven, four and four connected to a fifth point) I want to state that I do not adhere to any method stated below. I am not a true Qabalists (no matter how you chose to spell it); I am not a master of the Egyptian mysteries; I have trouble remembering the Zodiac; I don't know what the hell Aliester Crowley is talking about and I just learned that Voodoo has four o's. Hmmm... Did I say four "o's". As esoteric as it is, the first association materialized in a very strange way and it seems that once the pattern starts to form, it encompasses more and more...

Einstein called quantum mechanics "spooky" because one electron ‘knew' what another unrelated electron was doing. This test of electrons has been preformed many times with the same results. Bohr's The Copenhagen Interpretation links thought with quantum results. We can thank Bell's Theorem for proving the bizarre.

Why were the Ancient Mystery Schools concerned with states of Matter and Anti-Matter? Who was preaching Quantum Reality in connection to the Macrocosm 5,000 years ago?

DAATH

To the Qabalists, the number 11 equals Daath; the Abyss. Daath is the eleventh cosmic power zone; the gateway to Universe ‘B'. Its planetary representative is Uranus. Suffice it to say, this connection to 11:11 is very important. At the very least, we seem to have a very old gateway concept with Archetypical focal points. The Abyss is the gateway between real and unreal. Daath exists on the Tree of Life as the focal point below the trinity; The Great Crossing. This association is nothing less than a few thousand years old and helps tie Western and Eastern Mythology together in a very esoteric way.

Tetramorphs - The Gateway to Matter:
The second connection I am going to make with 11:11 is that we have four ones with a division in the center. The first association with this gliph is the Sphinx. The Sphinx via esoteric mythology is a combination of four symbols. Lion, Bull, Eagle and Man. These symbols thru the Zodiac equal Fire, Earth Water and Air; the four basic elements. (For those who don't know, the Eagle is the symbol for Scorpio on a higher arc.) Thus, the Sphinx is the four elements of the physical plane combined. The fifth element of Spirit is implied by unity and awareness of the four. This same symbolism is found in many ancient icons such as the pentagram; each point equals one of the five elements. The cross has four arms extended from a fifth point in the center. (The elongated cross folds into a cube. This is a symbol for Earth or, the physical/material plane.)

It should be noted that science until recently taught of three states of matter: liquid, solid and gas. Science has recently added plasma as the fourth state of matter. It does not take too much imagination to see that modern science has (in this sense) caught up with esoteric teachings that are thousands of years old and has finally broken down matter into Earth, Water, Air and finally, Fire (plasma.) Note that this is symbolic; when we say water for example, it is the force that underlies this essence and not water itself. These four elements (and the fifth of Spirit or, the consciousness to know one is conscious (I am, therefore, I am.)) is at the basis of all esoteric, mystical teachings.

The Zodiac uses the same symbology for personality makeups. Leo is a fire sign while Cancer is a water sign. This cosmic makeup is firmly embedded in man's mythology; the Four states of Matter (or, elements) and the fifth state of Spirit or, Consciousness. It is important to note that the four Elements are not only matter but the essence beyond matter. The point to all this (to put it very simplistically) is that Consciousness creates "Matter". The Four Elements are given form by the Fifth Element. Thus, it is the Fifth Element or, Consciousness that is preeminent. (The four are connected by the focal point of the fifth.)

The four points connected by consciousness is a very important part of many magical traditions. In Wicca, it is the Four Quarters; in Voodoo, there are four secret rituals of temple worship (or, the Four Rites). Also, in Hebrew magic; Aud = 11. Aud indicates the magical nature of the Light (i.e. the astral light) which is the Odic or Vodic force utilized in the rites of Voodoo. The Kabbalah (Qaballah, etc.) Also uses the Four Quarters and four Arch Angels (four elements) etc. The Four connected by the one of Fifth point cannot be stressed enough. The Masonic symbol also stands for the four plus one. Hint; the two tools can easily make triangles. Also, the triangle & cube are idea & form. A pyramid is the essence of idea into form and the form has its quarters.
